Bengali Film industry: Redefined Look!

BEING HUMMUSEXUAL

Meghe-Dhaka-Tara-2013

Kamaleshwar Mukherjee who?

The name did not ring a bell at all. It did not sound like a name I had heard in the film circuit. Funnily even though I had seen his earlier works, I just could not remember who he was. Then someone reminded me that he was the guy who wrote the screenplay and dialogues for Notobor Not Out, a light comedy written in rhyme dealing with the topic of tradition versus modernity. I had enjoyed that film thoroughly. His directorial debut had been Uro Chitthi, an adult urban drama on the life and times of relationships trying to survive tough times in Calcutta. An interesting narrative it had been, extremely well shot and crisply edited. Uro Chitthi was ‘classy’ – an adjective one could never use for Bengali commercial cinema a decade back.

The Bengali entertainment industry has once again found its bearings. Both cinema and…

Top 7 Indian Movies On College Life

Friendship-Love-college canteen these are the proved formulas to create buzz in any art. Like a common Chetan Bhagat story. Three friends, one girl, clashes, ego, emotions, friendship and many more Bollywood masala things to put on reel and produce a box office successful movie; this actually works!

Why college life is so catchy? Several reasons are there. College life is something to be remembered forever. Friendship, unlimited fun, new ideas of life, coolness and relations are the basic human desires and a human find all these in college life. Several times, Indian cinema industry performed many experiments with this life. Here are top 7 Indian movies on college life.

Reaction on outdated governmental system, this movie was a trend setter in Indian Cinema. Movie was more about the new generation decision making influences.

Image

Politics and the impacts on student life was the key subject of the movie. The love factor was perfectly fitted. How politics become a source of power and the way few people mix their personal desires in a wrong way, was the major focus in this movie.

Boring Nights With Kapil

Image

It is no more funny. Annoying nature, repetitive and lack of creativity are killing the charm of ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’. The TV show is executing a suicidal plan. After few days, it is obvious, people will change the channel if comedy night is telecasting on Colors!

Why? Because of three simple reason.

1. Lack of Creativity: Same dialogues, same people participating, same studio and same jokes. Everybody knows, Kapil do not have milk in his house, Kapil’s wife has a wide lips, Dadi is alcoholic and Bua-Pinky unmarried. I feel sick sometimes watching same conversation on these topics. Palak’s weight and ‘Talk to my hand’ was famous topic. Issues are same. Like, business, doctors, woman, politics etc etc. Nothing new.The country has changed in last few month, except comedy nights.

2. Same character: The initial problem was, Kapil wanted to create a standard mindset about the characters. This strategy can be useful to be remembered by the audience but when you are pretty successful you need to create new characters to deliver some new point of views the show looks irrelevant. Like, apart from marriage, the Bua character actually has nothing to discuss.

3: Guest Participation: Sunny Gavaskar was the last guest, in more than one month, I found funny on the show. Vinod Khanna, Sushmita Sen, daily shop characters are just irrelevant entries. They only can smile.

If we look at few successful Indian TV shows like, Satyameva Jayate, BigBoss, KBC, Just Dance etc we can feel three common characteristics among all of them.

1. Periodic: Always have a life cycle for every series, generally in measured in weeks.

2. Storytelling: All new stories everyday. New people or new topics.

3: Focused on USP: Just Dance was just for excellent dancers, KBC questions are always some learning scopes, Bigboss never let the contestants stop the drama.

Kapil, look back. you can learn from these success stories.

And The Award Goes To…. Zanjeer(2013)

Indian film industry is the source of income for few million people directly to indirectly. From the person who is the investor or producer, the person, who is the marketing head to the person who checks the tickets and assists the people to find out their seats with a torch; everyone is earning their bread and butter depending on this industry. Bollywood award giving events should take few initiatives to assure the quality and originality of Bollywood movies. What about if any film fare award introduces the below categories?

International Khiladi: For the movie, that will perform best in International market. Performing in overseas market is definitely a positive sign for any Bollywood movies. Like My Name Is Khan, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna.

ImageDuplicate: For those movies, copied from other movies and forget to paste the movie name in credits. I am sure you have seen many movies of this category.

Image

Jodi No 1: Any two movies released on a same date and performed perfectly in the market. As an industry prospect such ‘Jodi’s are too much important to lead the industry prospects. As an example, Laggan and Gadar: Ek prem katha; did excellent business after releasing on a same date.

House full: That movie will have maximum number of house full shows. Like, Chennai Express.

ImageGolmaal: For those movies, hyped perfectly but flopped in box-office. Example: Singh Is King

Khoobsurat: For best location and camera-work. Eklavya, any doubt?

Dhoondte Reh Jaoge: When a movie get the early rejection from the people. Even critics are negative on review and you cannot find the movie after one week. As an example we can give it to Zanjeer (2013).

Bheja Fry: When a movie is unable to express its inner message clearly to the people or a boring representation. Poor direction and confused screen play or the story was tough to make people understand. Even movie like ‘No Smoking’ was a ‘bheja fry’ movie.

“Jab Tak Hai Jaan”….. A Late Review

It was so normal I don’t feel any more excitement about any movie release. Specially Bollywood Movie Industry has got such talents and obviously a base of mad-about-movie base of consumers or people think watching a movie is a best time-pass. No matter, Bollywood has that crowed. And you know the figures comes from music and TV premier shows. Later on you can add reality shows and anything you can create and present to the public. They buy everything you can offer. They have money.

Specially If I say about a SRK movie…………….  Swades, Chak De India, My Name is Khan. Last three movies I liked. JTHJ, I wanted to watch because of the list of hi-profile artists. The money and time does not matter if you can see Anushka Sharma in such small outfits, Katrina, in a romantic role, SRK- always an achievement for any group, AR Rahaman- my best, Gulzar sahab with his mind-blowing poems and the Director. I can put my wallet, watch, glasses for each of them.

Movie started and no super hero entry or no more musical ambiances to welcome SRK on screen. Just a Bullet…Vot Vot Vot Vot! as simple as that. This is not at all a SRK movie. I can’t deny that he is everywhere in this movie but like Swades,, like Chak de… this is not..

I think everyone knows the story and had watched the movie. Someone is saying awesome and someone with a negative feedback. SRK Fans are tagging people with the most excitement of having SRK-Kat jodi.

No this Jodi can not be a successful jodi further. The second reason can be the age difference and the main reason, SRK needs sensitive eyes to be reflected on screen. not a face. Katrina has a face but not eyes, those can not put them together on screen.

It is a movie of Yash Chopra, AR Rahman and the team. SRK had kissed, bent on a bed to create some parts of this project. Old stories, Ultrabook on 2002, street singer to bomb defuser… and artist to a technical person! lots of stuffs!! may be a systematic presentation of successful love stories in Bollywood. Story has nothing special but fluent and conscious. Dialogues! no doubt, classic romantic dialogues those lines only can be modified but never changes. you have thousand lines to express the moonlight but only a hundred words to express the  moon.

“teri aankhon ki namkeen mastiyaan

teri hansi ki beparwaah gustakhiyaan

teri zulfon ki lehrati angdaiyaan

nahi bhoolunga main

jab tak hai jaan, jab tak hai jaan”

The same feelings, depth and devotional attitude to ‘LOVE’ like ninety’s. This movie again proves us the specialty of concept of love once again. Don’t forget Yesh Chopra is one of the person made the word ‘love’ social and acceptable. People like me still thank these directors because they think their life story was designed by these people.

baarishon mein bedhadak tere naachne se

baat baat pe bewajah tere roothne se,

chhoti chhoti teri bachkani badmashiyon se,

mohabbat karunga main

Jab tak hai jaan, jab tak hai jaan.

A R Rahman, no need to write more lines about him. I wish I can design my blog pages, I will definitely choose the ‘Heer’ song as my blog’s background music. He is the GOD. If you don’t want to open your stressed eyes sometimes, feel the music and you will feel relaxed with a heavy pain in your heart. The pain of remembering someone, you miss everyday, the  pain for fear of losing someone in near future.

‘Naal naal tur na te vith rakhna
Hadh rakh lena vich dil rakhna
Chhanve chhanve bhaave, assi teri parchhave, tur naa’
